We Got Each Other’s Backs: The Story Of The Awkwardly Emerie

Hello, I am Emerie Jo! I am wonderfully awkward and love to make people smile! By my fun-loving nature one might not think I’d have the past I do.

I was tied to a tree and left all alone where I became very lonely and helpless. Then, I was rescued from a kill shelter to the pawsome rescue group where I stayed for six months. I felt like I’d be there forever but it was worth the wait.

My Mom said she picked me but I really chose her. I stole her heart and she stole mine! Due to my difficult past, I still have some physical and behavioral problems but I do not let that define me. We have been through much training and I am doing a lot better but some things like certain dogs cause me to remember the bad times but mom reminds me she is right there with me. Mom and I have each other’s backs!

She says that I rescued her too. She was going through a really rough time battling with depression after a very bad dog bite on Christmas morning resulting in 100 stitches on her face. (this was a complete accident by my doggy cousin and we do not blame the sweet pup at all. I still get to see her to this day) Mom felt self-conscious, lonely, and didn’t know what to do. I knew how she felt and I comforted her during this time.

We are each other’s best friends and she takes me everywhere she can! I helped her meet people with my outgoing and awkward personality helping her get up and get the courage to go out of the house. I am so glad my mom gave me a second chance and did not look past me or give up on me when things got tough.

Sometimes the ones with difficult pasts have the most love to give and the biggest hearts. So, please do not look past a dog because it is a rescue like me. I might not be that “designer” dog or the easiest to train but I sure do know how to give the best hugs and make someone smile! Mom and I have had a great couple years and I know that I am safe in a loving home, my forever home – Emerie
