It has been 8 years since I first met a tiny white puppy. I still remember the moment I fell in love with him right away, from the first glance. He was the smallest of 5 puppies. Although he was cute, but he didn’t look healthy compared to his brothers and sisters. All 5 puppies were adopted right away, as the poodle is one of the most popular dog breeds in Thailand.
Almost 2 months passed by, and 4 of the puppies were moved to their permanent homes except the tiniest one. The original adopter changed her mind due to the unhealthiness of the puppy. I wanted to adopt him, but my place at the time didn’t allow me to have a pet. Fortunately, couple weeks later, I got a new job at a dive shop and moved to a new place that was ok with pets. Right then the tiny puppy got his new home.
I named him “Pepsi” even though he was a white puppy. Raising Pepsi has been the best thing in my life. Everyone who came to the dive shop fell in love with him. Some of them spent an hour hanging around the dive shop so they could play with him. He was stolen from the dive shop one time, but the thief didn’t go very far because everybody knew Pepsi. And yes he is one of Koh Tao’s celebrities! (Koh Tao is one of the most popular destinations for scuba diving in Thailand.)
Having Pepsi in my life for 8 years has been a gift for me. I thought I would help raise an unhealthy puppy and give him a good life, but he has been the one who gives me a good life and happiness! Indeed, he gives his love and kindness to everyone he knows. I remember my roommate told me she was crying in our room, Pepsi then walked to her and sit quietly with his face on her arm to make sure she was ok.
Without adopting Pepsi, I would have had no idea how happy I could be. To people who are hesitating about adopting a pet, please go for it! You can only be happier with a new family member.
