Kallie was found in a car engine where I work at (a vet hospital). She was deep inside one of the Vets car engine and we could only hear her cries. At the time I was already fostering 2 hissy stray kittens from the shelter. When we finally got Kallie out of the engine, she was covered in oil and dirt (we couldn’t see her beautiful colors/ I personally thought at first glance she was a brown tabby). The hospital took her in and we gave her the medical care she needed. After about 3 days of getting use to people and the hospital ,I decided to take her in with the other two fosters I had at home.
At first Kallie was more interested in hiding from both cats and me. Slowly (I mean very slowly) she started to come out of her shell. Everyday for 2 months I would try to gain her trust. At one point she started hanging around the other two cats and kept hiding from me and other people. After a couple weeks all three cats were sleeping , eating, playing together.
Kallie was such a shy and fearful kitten at the time (I was so worried that I wouldn’t be able to find a home for her due to her personality at the time). The two foster siblings really helped get her to live the life a kitten should live. Eventually the two foster siblings were adopted together in a nice forever loving home and Kallie was by herself the first time in like 2months after the rescue.
I kid you not, the very first night Kallie actually came up to me and let me pet her. The second night she actually cuddled with me in my bed! (This was the first sign of trust from her). From then on Kallie has been on my side ever since. She is one of the best kittens I have ever had!/fostered.
Today, Kallie sleeps with me everynight, goes on leash walks, car rides, she knows how to sit/ shake paw, and is getting along great with my other animals ( my dog loves her and now gets a little like dad protective over her/ he normally didn’t like cats but she was different). All I can say is that Kallie is one unique cat with one unique story. She will be forever loved and live in a happy home. – Kallie’s Mom
